Cavaliers' Conductor
Drew Olsen earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College where he was a member of the world-renowned St. Olaf Choir, under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong. He has since taught general music in the Spokane area. Currently, he is the K-6 Music Specialist at Colbert Elementary School in the Mead School District. Drew is also the Artistic Director of the Mead District Elementary Choir, a non-auditioned group of interested 5th and 6th grade singers throughout the district. He serves as Past-President of the Inland Empire Orff Chapter, a national professional-development organization for elementary music educators.

Outside the classroom, Drew performs locally on both voice and piano. He is a founding member and tenor in the vocal chamber group, Spokane Choral Artists, and has sung with the Spokane Symphony Chorale. Drew occasionally finds himself playing keyboard for Spokane Civic Theatre productions, most recently Les Miserables, which was later restaged with the Spokane Symphony at the Fox--a career highlight! On Sundays, Drew sings with his church choir and is the substitute organist.

Besides music, Drew spends his free time in the kitchen. With aspirations of owning a bakery, he has begun selling baked goods to friends and co-workers using eggs from his backyard flock of chickens. Maybe one day The Roost Bakery will be in a strip mall near you! Drew also enjoys running, swimming, cycling, tennis, and cross-country skiing. He is married to Andrea Olsen, another singer/teacher, and loves any opportunity to collaborate with her! Drew looks forward to working with the Crescendo family to nurture well-rounded singers. In the words of Helen Kemp, "Body, mind, spirit, voice--it takes the whole person to sing and rejoice!"
